Music is one of the things that literally breathe for. Colors came a little later on the way since my day job as a lithographer requires color knowledge and understanding. The first concert I've ever been was a Saxon in 1987 in Athens. It was one of the(very) few times that I didn't have a camera in my hands. My need to capture the first concert images(and what a concert it was) passing in front of my eyes was the major reason why I got a camera. Loud music and dark photos contain all the necessary noise needed to justify the name for this website.

I am Panos Mattheogiannis (born 1971) and I must admit that I've been quite lucky (so far...). Lucky enough to get involved with the Greek Metal Hammer magazine as one of the staff writers and photographer (having only the minimum of experience) and occasionally later with Pop & Rock magazine (as a photographer) where I had the opportunity (or the "privilege" one might say) to be one of those few that enter the photopit in a concert for a real reason (and not because of the crowd-surfing or stage diving).

Having a photo pass most of the times and the -almost- standard "first 3 songs - no flash" rules became part of my life starting at a Sodom gig back in 1989. Having been at more than 500 concerts and photographed some of the biggest names in modern rock music (and not just rock) from Metallica and Iron Maiden to Massive Attack and Depeche Mode the list is just too long to mention them all. Over 100 concert photos have been published in Metal Hammer (Greece), Pop& Rock and occasionally in other magazines and newspapers or even fanzines. As you will see the "Loud Noise" section of the site is dedicated to the concert photos.

The "no flash" rule on the other hand made me take pictures of things and enviroments  where lights are low, avoiding the use of one trying to capture the physical atmosphere of a room or a subject. The result of this is the "Silent Noise" section where you can find non-concert photos but most of them still dark and ...noisy.

Meanwhile the "invasion" of computers in the 90s gave me the opportunity to gain experience in almost every step of the lithography - typography production chain from writing text and scanning to printing and folding but basically in image editing/retouching and secondly in design and layout. Design experience includes leaflets, catalogues, flyers, fanzine and many more. Of course what I enjoy most of these is image editing and retouching so certainly Photoshop has become some kind of "extension" of myself since 1996. Some of the best work I've been involved with you can find in the "Silent Portfolio" section where I also describe how I've participated in each project.

Well I guess that about sums it all up.
Additions in both sections of the site will be placed regularly.
I'm also trying to get permission for older concerts to upload.
Bands (/Labels) wanting to have your pictures posted you are more than welcome.
Drop me a line and I can send you more pics and higher resolution ones if wanted.
Anyone who appears in the site and doesn't want to please just contact.
Thanx again for visiting I hope you enjoy.
